Lucy Bradshaw Interview

GameSpot UK got in touch with Spore executive producer and Maxis veteran Lucy Bradshaw to ask her some questions about the release of the Creature Creator.

GS UK: How does the anticipation of Spore affect its development? Are you feeling the pressure?

LB: We definitely feel it. It’s exciting to be [working on] one of the most anticipated games–we can’t wait to see what players create and see how much they enjoy playing Spore.

Writing this there’s already close to half a million uploaded creatures to spore.com. HALF A MILLION! That’s insane ladies and gentlemen, and absolutely amazing. This is going to be fun.

Just a heads up, the Spore Creator Creator is now officially released and available at spore.com. The setup file is 200 meg and takes considerably less time to download than at other sources. So if you haven’t got it yet, or had problems with other packages out there, go and grab it! As reported it’s wicked cool.

Official Spore Facebook App

Ramping up to the much anticipated release of the Spore Creature Creator, an official Spore Facebook Application has just come online!

Here users can get the latest Spore news from Spore.com, share creatures with your friends on Facebook and browse a gallery with other users wacky creations!

Creature Creatore Trial Download!

It’s not up yet at the official site (www.spore.com), but it is available through various other download services!

As for registering at spore.com you’ll probably have to wait until the download is up there, which should be anytime soon.

Misc. Creature Creator News

The Sporepedia sharing function over at the official site has been closed since it was discovered that the Creature Creator trail version was leaked on to various shady sites. It will be re-opened again June 18. Also for those of you who has pre-ordered CC through direct download at the EA store you’ll have to wait one more day before getting it. Why? We don’t know.

Kotaku reports that a group of around 50 celebrities will compete against eachother using the CC creating the coolest creature possible. The winner will recieve 15 grand to donate to their favourite charity. Notables include Carlos Santana, Ellijah Wood and Bijou Phillips.

Spore Confirmed for E3 2008

This year’s E3 kicks off in just a little more than a month from now - July 17, and the list of games attending grows steadily stronger. Among them we find Spore, but as it seems only for PC. So those wanting to hear more of possible ports will have to wait a bit longer. Other notables include Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (PC, X360), Crysis Warhead (PC) and Fallout 3 (PC, PS3, X360).
